TROPHY HISTORY

Madeleine moved to Summerland in 1991 where she created Hillbourne Farms, an equestrian facility, which became a special place for many young riders. A world where Madeleine shared her passion for animals, where riding was fun and chores were shared. Madeleine was full of life and energy. The SOHA is a testament to Madeleine's dreams and love of the equestrian world.

Many years ago Madeleine approached Leo and Barb den Boer of Woodgate Farm and Brian and Charlene Bradburn of Okanagan Riding Center with an idea to create an association which would hold horse shows where local horse enthusiasts could show their horses in a fun and friendly atmosphere, where families could afford to compete and didn't have to travel long distances. The South Okanagan Horse Association was born.

Madeleine died in a tragic car accident on January 21, 1996 at the age of just 33 years. This trophy is a tribute to a great horsewoman whose energy and dedication has enriched all of our lives, even those of you who never had the privilege of meeting her.
