SOHA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Being a member of the SOHA allows you to enter our shows at a discounted price, collect points towards year-end prizes and trophies, and gives you a vote in SOHA meeting decisions. NEW - members now have free access to Parkway Stables arena!

SOHA POINT QUALIFIERS

SOHA is holding three Point Qualifying shows this year. You must attend at least two Point Qualifying shows for your points to count towards Year End Prizes. The Fuzzy Horse Show and Halloween Horse Show do not count towards year end highpoint awards.

SOHA PASSPORTS

SOHA points can be collected for any of the following categories (either English and/or Western): Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog. Points will be calculated for all members who enter our Points shows.

Points will be collected for each horse and rider combination. If for any reason you change horses during the show season because of illness or lameness of the horse, and wish your points to still count with the new horse, please contact the Club Secretary with a letter of request and supply a letter from your veterinarian, outlining the reason for the lameness or illness. This must be received prior to the competition.

Single Adult membership - $35.00

Family membership - $45.00

If membership is paid before March 1, 2011 a $ 10.00 discount will be applied.

DIVISIONS AND AGE CATEGORIES

There are three age groups: Youth (13 and under), Junior (14 to 18) and Senior (19 and older). All ages are as of January 1, 2011.

A Green Horse is a horse/pony of any age that is in its first or second calendar year of being ridden under saddle. Green horse entries (same horse/rider combination) can only enter classes designated as Green Horse, Showmanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, Horsemanship, Western Equitation, Beginner, Hunter – x-poles or Hunter – 2’.

Beginner classes are restricted to horse/rider combinations that have not placed in the top three spots in an open reining or western riding class. Horse may be ridden with two hands if a snaffle bit is used, but must be ridden one handed if a curb bit is used, regardless of mouthpiece (jointed or fixed). No martingales.

Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog classes are open to any age or ability of rider or horse that are not ready to canter/lope. Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog entries (same horse/rider combination) can only enter classes designated as Walk/Trot, Walk/Jog or Showmanship.
