WELCOME
The South Okanagan Horse Association (SOHA) is a club with members located throughout the beautiful South Okanagan valley of British Columbia, devoted to hosting and organizing fun, affordable horse shows, trail rides, poker rides and other fun horse events.
Our horse shows are for the beginner or experienced rider to learn, practice and have a great time. (Not to mention a little friendly competition now and then...)
A thought was planted one day by dedicated horsepersons from Hilbourne Farm Ltd., Okanagan Riding Centre and Woodgate Farm to host schooling shows in the South Okanagan and it became reality in 1994.
Our shows were held at Osoyoos Valley Equestrian Center, Okanagan Riding Centre, Woodgate Farm, Hilbourne Farm, Summerland Rodeo Grounds, Southern Pines and Keremeos Rodeo Grounds. Each host ran their own show under the auspices of the S.O.H.A. except the Summerland Rodeo Grounds where everyone pitched in and helped.
Currently in our 17th year of operation the S.O.H.A. offers experience in the show ring for rider and their horses from beginner/green to advanced. Qualified judges are encouraged to offer advice and assess the performance of the rider/horse combination after each class. Presently, all our shows are held at the Summerland Rodeo Grounds. We encourage the membership to get involved with the goal being a well run, organized and fun association for all of us to enjoy.
Annual membership and event entries are kept very low and the atmosphere is fun, relaxed and family friendly. All riders must be members of Horse Council BC. Year-end high-point awards are presented at the annual awards banquet.
